Two players, one phone: the fair’s shared screen
A second controller is a big purchase. A second thumb is free.
Some of the best evenings in the catalogue need no second device at all. Games tagged 2 players split one screen — one side each, or alternating turns — and turn any phone propped against a coffee cup into a tiny arcade cabinet.
The Mixer has a mood for exactly this. Choose “with company” and it deals only shared-screen titles, then keeps the clock so neither player hogs the round. In testing, the timer mattered more than the game list: it is what turns two players from audience into opponents.
If you are choosing one for a smaller sibling, filter the fair to kid-ok first, then hand the phone sideways. Most of the two-player shelf plays better in landscape anyway.
