The headliner rotates at midnight (and why that matters)
A daily pick you cannot influence is a strange feature. It is also the most used page on the site.
The headliner is chosen by the calendar, not by you. No account, no history, no algorithm reading your last hundred taps — just the date, hashed, pointing at a game.
That stubbornness is the feature. Deciding is the expensive part of a small evening, and a pick that refuses to negotiate removes the deciding. People open Today, accept the offer, and play — the average visit there is under a minute before the game takes over.
It also gives the fair a heartbeat. Regulars check in at lunch to see who is on the stage tonight, the way you might glance at a cinema poster. When the pick is bad, tomorrow is right there — which is exactly the right size of stakes for a browser game.
