Keeping a fair tidy: inside the weekly shelf check

Every week every game is opened again. Here is what gets a stall quietly retired.

Browser games decay quietly. A publisher reorganises their CDN, a certificate lapses, and a tile that played beautifully in March becomes a grey rectangle in October. Nobody emails you about it; the game just stops.

So the fair has a weekly round. Every entry is opened cold, timed to first frame, and played for a round. Covers are re-fetched. Two fails in a row and the entry comes off its stall — not flagged, not greyed out, gone.

It is unsentimental by design. A fair with one dead stall stops feeling like a fair; trust is the only product here that cannot be re-stocked, so the shelf check exists to spend as little of it as possible.
